Impact of Tillage Intensity on Planosol Bulk Density, Pore Size Distribution, and Water Capacity in Faba Bean Cultivation

Tillage systems affect many properties of soil, such as soil bulk density, porosity, pore distribution, and water capacity. However, the effect reduced tillage (RT) on faba bean cultivation requires wider analysis. We carried out our investigations at Vytautas Magnus University, Agriculture Academy (Lithuania), part a long-term field experiment. The aim was to determine intensity distribution capacity in cultivation. Five were used: deep (DP) shallow (SP) ploughing, (DC) (chiselling), (SC) (disking), no (NT). results showed that density NT plots somewhat higher upper (0–10 cm) less deeper (15–20 cm 30–35 layers compared DP. pores depended more sampling depth than tillage. In RT plots, number meso-pores often higher, micro-pores lower ploughed plots. (0–5 layer, highest established NT, layers, this found mainly affected volume micro-and-macro-pores
